Day 15: Matthew 12:22-13:23
The Kingdom of Heaven
"Your kingdom come...(6:10)." "...the the kingdom of God has come...(12:28)." "The kingdom of heaven is like...(13:24,31,33,44,45,47)." Now and then. Already and not yet. This wonderful and divine tension exists between the present reality and the future promise. The truth is, where Jesus is, there is the Kingdom. No, we have not received all we have been promised, and so we live in hope...eagerly, patiently (Romans 8:24-25). In all of Jesus' conversation about the kingdom, it is those who live in that tension, who are included in the final consummation. Those who live in the presence of Jesus, live out the promise of Jesus. Those who abide are the ones who bear fruit and live lives that please the Father. If you belong to Jesus because He is your Savior and Lord, then the kingdom is in you and you are in the kingdom. Live today by this grace, that you are a kingdom citizen. Jesus in you means that every privilege and responsibility of kingdom living is yours. Yes, you are a King's child. Rejoice!
