Day 30: Exodus 23-25; Matthew 20:17-34
"See, I am sending an angel before you to protect you on your journey and lead you safely to the place I have prepared for you. " (Exodus 23:20, NLT)
"For the angel of the Lord is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him." (Psalm 34:7, NLT)
"For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone." (Psalm 91:11-12, NLT)
There is not much I know about angels. In fact, my only knowledge is based on the word of God and a handful of people in my life I know who have encountered angels. All my angel encounters have happened unaware. However, I have seen the evidence of the presence of angels. Twice yesterday I was reminded of their handiwork. Vince and Kathy showed me a photo of their daughter-in-law's car. The police were in a high-speed chase. They veered out of the way of a head-on collision in time for the car they avoided to hit Brianna head-on (she was behind the police unaware). The front of that car is mutilated. The only preserved place is the cockpit. Talk about guardian angels.
Penny's granddaughter, Malinda, lost almost everything in a housefire. She is safe. The outcome of that event could have been wholly other. While Malinda and Brianna experienced traumatic loss, which cannot be minimized, life is more valuable than material possession...angels were watching over them.
Don't take for granted the love of God for you. Walk in His way and live in His care. You may never know when you will encounter an angel. In fact, chances are good you and I have more than once. "Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find refuge in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust Him." (Psalm 91:1-2, NLT)
