Day 37: Leviticus 2-3; Matthew 24

The religious leaders asked for a sign and Jesus rebuked them. Of course, they were asking for Jesus to prove himself to them. His presence, His life was proof enough (Matthew 16:1-4). The disciples asked for a sign and Jesus entertained their question (Matthew 24:3). Of course, the signs have been happening since Jesus ascended to heaven. Martyrs and mayhem have been with us from the start. The destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70, and in particular, the temple, certainly factor into Jesus' conversation. Here we are, two millennia later, and the signs are still there. True, they have intensified. Lawlessness and lovelessness, the disdain for the true Christ and His followers, the falling away of the faithless and the proliferation of the powerful message of salvation, it seems these are measurably greater. Did you hear the heart of Jesus? First, keep on keeping on! It is worth it and it will be worth it all! "The one who endures to the end will be saved" (Matthew 24:13). Secondly, God's got your back! "For your sake, I'm cutting the tribulations short (Matthew 24:22) and I am coming for you, to gather you to your promised Home" (Matthew 24:31).
Not only that, He has sent a Helper (John 14:15-17; Acts 2:1f) to empower us to live victoriously, significantly, eternally. Live for Jesus! Live ready!
