Day 54: Numbers 11-13; Mark 6:1-29

"Moses was a very humble man, more so than anyone on the face of the earth." (Numbers 12:3, CSB)

"That which brings a praying soul near to God is a humble heart. That which gives wings to prayer is a humble mind...Humility holds in its keeping the very life of prayer. There is no power in prayer to ascend without it...God dwells in the lowly places. He makes lowly places often the most high places to the praying soul" (E.M. Bounds, a man of powerful prayer, and true humility).

Hear the LORD's testimony about Moses: “Listen to what I say: If there is a prophet among you from the LORD, I make myself known to him in a vision; I speak with him in a dream. Not so with my servant Moses; he is faithful in all my household. I speak with him directly [literally, 'mouth to mouth,' i.e. conversationally], openly, and not in riddles; he sees the form of the LORD." (Numbers 12:6-8, CSB, [] added)

Take a moment to reflect on the truth of these words. Moses talked to God about everything with humility and boldness, and speaking of humility, he even interceded for his jealous and proud sister (v.13) and God answered him.

LORD, teach me to pray like Jesus and Moses. From a humble heart in a lowly place, hear my needy cry and be glorified in the answers that You bring. Amen.
