Day 66: Deuteronomy 2-4; Mark 11:15-33
What kind of God?
Here is a summary of Israel's history and God's history with Israel: "There you will worship man-made gods of wood and stone, which cannot see, hear, eat, or smell. But from there, you will search for the Lord your God, and you will find him when you seek him with all your heart and all your soul. When you are in distress and all these things have happened to you, in the future you will return to the Lord your God and obey him. He will not leave you, destroy you, or forget the covenant with your ancestors that he swore to them by oath, because the Lord your God is a compassionate God." (Deuteronomy 4:28-31, CSB). What kind of God do we serve? "The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him. For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust." (Psalm 103:13-14, NLT). Only a God Who is Love and Compassion, could look on fickle and frail humanity, knowing our hearts, yet inviting us to His compassionate heart. "'And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. I will let Myself be found by you,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will restore...'" (Jeremiah 29:13-14, NASB). What kind of God...come, let us seek Him with all our hearts and souls!
