Day 76: Deuteronomy 29-30; Mark 16

"When all these things happen to you...and you come to your senses..." (Deuteronomy 30:1)

Hope! Optimism! God is real and realistic. He knows the deceitful hearts of His children and their wandering affections. He knows! He knows that they will abandon 'first love' and live in the land driven by sensory satisfaction. He knows the outcome that sin begets. He knows the desperate cry of lost, broken and helpless souls...victims of their own choices and self-centered behavior, living in the curse they have embraced. When you come to your senses...I love that. There is hope! Our gracious and forgiving God offers a way back into the blessing. Not only does He offer a way back, but He also offers a cure for the wandering soul, the sin-sick heart. He makes this prophetic promise: He will circumcise their hearts (Deuteronomy 30:6), changing their covenant from external acts to internal motivation. Yes, He will cleanse their hearts (Acts 15:8-9). The result is that they will love Him and live! Yes, they will 'choose life' (Deuteronomy 30:19-20). Love Him! Cling to Him! Live in willing obedience!

Come, let us love the Lord and live! This is our hope!
