Day 88: Joshua 23-24; Luke 6:27-49

"For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you." (Luke 6:38b, CSB)

God's judgment is absolutely fair. Our own attitudes and actions become the measure of the judgment against us. For instance, judgmentalism (in the Greek, the word used is the one from which we get critical and criticism) becomes its own standard used against the hyper-critical person. Judgmentalism leads to condemnation...attitude leads to action. In reality, these are the opposite of grace. For, in Christ, we have been judged not guilty and we know there is no condemnation for us. So, judgment is based on what we have done with grace...with Jesus.

On the other hand, the recipient of grace gives grace. The forgiven forgive and the measure used against them is the forgiveness of grace. The forgiven are generous...they give. These realize that all they have is a gift from God's hand, and so they bless others with their giving. All of a sudden it dawns on us, that God Who has welcomed us into His eternity by grace alone, also rewards us for embracing the attitudes and actions of Jesus. Jesus' words are truly gracious: " Give, and it will be given to you; a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over—will be poured into your lap" (Luke 6:38a, CSB). Wow!

Away with condemning judgmentalism! Let's embrace Jesus' attitude and live generous graciousness!

Jesus, I am a debtor to your grace! Help me live grace today! Amen.
