Day 105: 1 Samuel 17-19; Day 7 Prayer Journey

One of the favorite childhood Bible stories remains a powerful source of hope and determination. Giants are no threat to God, so they are no threat to us...for, we are His. In a day of mounting opposition to what is true and right, and, therefore, outright condemnation of those who embrace Truth, David's strong words followed by faith-in-action, are very relevant.

David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with a sword, spear, and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord of Armies, the God of the ranks of Israel—you have defied him. Today, the Lord will hand you over to me...Then all the world will know that Israel has a God, and this whole assembly will know that it is not by sword or by spear that the Lord saves, for the battle is the Lord’s. He will hand you over to us.” (1 Samuel 17:45-47, CSB).

Like David, our Journal writer, Ian Fitzpatrick reminds us, 'in the midst of all this [the signs of the present age], those who stand firm will be saved.' Then he goes on to challenge us to follow up with action...fulfill our mission...until the whole world knows. As Jesus followers, the battle is the Lord's, the mission is ours (with His empowerment). Let's keep on sharing the great Good News until the whole world knows!
