Day 116: 2 Samuel 15-16; Luke 20:27-46; Day 18 Prayer Journey

We marvel at the Pharisees and Sadducees attempting to trick Jesus. Who do they think they are? Then we marvel at Jesus even more. Seeing through their deception, His keen and cutting answers put them all in their place and teach truth in response to their deceptive contriving to destroy Him. Today our prayer journal called us to truth over opinion. In a culture that values opinion so highly it is a multi-million dollar industry, opinion way too often is paraded as truth. Our enemy, a liar and the father of lies, lives in the middle of the morass of popular opinion and his only purpose is to deceive, leading to eternal destruction. This is never the end of the Story!

Jesus, the Truth (John 14:6), always prevails. In Jesus, the truth is proclaimed. Embracing truth and living truth is true freedom (John 8:31-32). Yes, it is embracing Jesus and His Way wholly that we know the truth and the truth sets us free.

I join our Journal writer, Wendell Brown, in asking God: "Father, help us know truth and proclaim truth in our thoughts, words, and actions...May every person we encounter today be drawn to your truth" and so find life, hope, and freedom in Christ. Amen!
