Day 124: 1 Kings 8-9; Luke 23:44-56; Day 26 Prayer Journey

"Then they returned and prepared spices and perfumes. And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment." (Luke 23:56, CSB)

Ever feel in limbo? If there ever was a group of people that were in limbo, it was Jesus' followers at the end of Good Friday. They all, being followers of God who embraced Torah, gave Jesus a quick and respectful burial, but could not complete the proper preparation because the Law forbade any work on the Sabbath. Joseph and Nicodemus put Jesus in the tomb. The ladies who stood by Jesus on the cross, made their way to the tomb, observed His burial there, then went home and prepared the proper spices for burial. After Sabbath, they would come to the tomb and make the burial complete. They might have been in limbo, but they did what they knew to do. They prepared and they worshiped. Perhaps that was the most difficult Sabbath they had ever experienced. You can be certain that they did not want to 'get out of bed to go to church' that day. But they did! It was a high holy day, Passover, and they were not going to miss it! Yes, they did what they knew to do, and they worshiped!

And, then the Sunday came that changed their world, that changed our world forever...
