Day 138: 2 Kings 20-22; John 6:60-71; Day 40 Prayer Journal

Hezekiah prayed to the LORD and wept bitterly (2 Kings 20:2-3). The LORD (YaHWeH), God (Elohim) of his ancestor David (same God, everpresent, in full control) said: "I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. Look, I will heal you" (v.5b). Josiah heard the Word (Torah) of God and tore his clothes, repentant, and said to the priest: "Go pray, intercede!" (2 Kings 22:11-13). The LORD responded: "...because you have torn your clothes and wept before me, I myself have heard" (v.19b). One point of interest to add to your pondering, in both instances the God Who answered sent a messenger (Isaiah and Huldah, both prophets) to share His answers.

These intermediaries bring me to today's Prayer Journal. Debra White Smith challenges us to take every opportunity to share Christ, "even if it means an impromptu prayer meeting in a grocery store parking lot." Perhaps the people to whom we bring God's answers through prayer, have prayed for God's help, even unwittingly, and God has sent us to be their prophets (truth tellers). The truth we start with is that God has heard their prayers, seen their tears, and He has answered according to their need. Be an intercessor. God listens to our prayers!
