40 Days of Prayer and Fasting
Day 1 – Monday September 11th
Lord, I have heard of your fame;
I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord.
Repeat them in our day,
in our time make them known;
in wrath remember mercy.
-Habakkuk 3:2
As Nazarenes we have heard of the revivals of old, the powerful movements of God from the time of Pentecost to the nation-wide revivals of the 1800’s. We have experienced revivals at district and general assemblies, and have occasionally seen God move powerfully at various other gatherings, such as at Asbury university several months ago. We have seen God move and we hunger for that. It is not just a hunger for something extra, but for a pouring out of God’s Spirit that is necessary. Pray that God will move powerfully among us over the next 40 days as he has in the past; that the Spirit will REkindle and REenergize us through the days of the revival, and that Jesus may guide our steps and lead us to boldly share him with others.

More Information:
We are joining together both as local church family and a wider zone church family for 40 days of prayer and fasting leading up to our planned revival. Thank you for joining with your church family in this as we prepare for what God is going to do and how the Spirit is going to move. We anticipate God’s presence and movement throughout our gatherings.
For this fast you are invited to join other members of your church family by skipping one meal per day from Monday September 11th until the first day of the revival, Thursday October 26th. These 40 days do not include Sundays because Sundays are always a celebration and remembrance. On Sundays we feast. In the time that you would normally be eating on fasting days, instead read the daily scripture and spend time in prayer based on the prayer prompt for that day.
There are many words that can be tied to the idea of revival. In each devotional/prayer prompt you will see words that start with “RE.” When you see these, think again about the revival we are praying for, and pray the words of Psalm 85:6-7, “Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your unfailing love, Lord, and grant us your salvation.”
Thank you again for following God’s move and joining your church family in this; I am excited for this revival and look forward eagerly to the Spirit’s movement among us. May we seek to humble ourselves before God, and may the Spirit challenge us, call us, and empower us.
In Prayer,
Pastor Shane, Pitman Church of the Nazarene
