40 Days of Prayer and Fasting - Day 18

Day 18 – Saturday September 30th
About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose.
- Acts 16:25-26

Paul and Silas were in prison. From a human perspective they had every reason to give up on hope and think that this was the end of the line. However, they trusted and held on to hope. Rather than being worried or giving up, they spent their time praying and singing hymns. While you may not be in an actual jail cell, what prisons are you locked in? What chains do you bear that weigh you down and slow your walk? A sinful habit? Memories of something that’s already been forgiven? Worry? Doubt? Pray about these things and sing praises to God, holding on to the hope that you have in Jesus. People will be at the REvival from all walks of life. What prisons might they be trapped in? Pray that as the Spirit moves when we gather that they will be REminded of the hope they have and be REleased from prison as walls come crashing down.
