40 Days of Prayer and Fasting - Day 24
Day 24 – Saturday October 7th
For this is what the high and exalted One says— he who lives forever, whose name is holy: “I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.
-Isaiah 57:15
In this passage we can see the heart of God. God isn’t, as some humans imagine deity to be, distant and disconnected. While God truly is “high and exalted,” and lives in a “high and holy place,” he also desires to be among us and to live close to us. He does not wait for us to somehow find a way to him, because he knows that we are unable to do so. Instead, he comes to us in the person of Jesus and by the Holy Spirit. He comes not to the spiritual elites, or to those who have it all figured out, but to the humble, to the penitent, and to the lowly to REvive them. Pray that we all be REvived, both in the time of anticipation and the time of gathering.
