40 Days of Prayer and Fasting - Day 29
Day 29 – Friday October 13th
When the trumpets sounded, the army shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the men gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so everyone charged straight in, and they took the city.
-Joshua 6:20
We know the story. The inferior Hebrew army marches around the city seven times, the walls collapse, the people living in the city are easily overwhelmed. Our brains, however, tend to go on autopilot when we approach familiar stories. We must guard against this because we can easily miss the mysterious and unexpected ways that God is working. To better understand the absurdity of the story, we must try to apply it to our own time. Imagine if D-Day forces made their way to Berlin and started circling the city. Imagining this, we can begin to imagine just how crazy God’s instructions were. Sometimes the directions that God leads us and the tasks he gives don’t make sense to us. As you pray today, REsolve to follow wherever God may lead and follow whatever instructions he may give; they may be confusing sometimes, but he is faithful and trustworthy in all things.
