40 Days of Prayer and Fasting - Day 30

Day 30 – Saturday October 14th
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
-Matthew 11:28-30

Yokes were common in Jesus’ day, but are much less so for most people today. Yokes were used to bind oxen together, to combine their strength and accomplish a job. Often a younger ox would be yoked to one with more experience. The stronger ox would take the lead and the younger animal would learn as they worked together. Jesus does not invite us to an easy, comfortable life without burden, but he does promise that the burden asks us to carry is lighter than what we bear on our own, and that he helps us to bear it. What burdens do you need to lift up and RElease to God? What burden is he asking you to join him with? What fruit will be born in your life and the lives of others when you agree to join Jesus in that work? What harvest will you REap when you join in this work? Lift these up to God in prayer, and join him in the harvest field.
