Sunday Feast! No Fast Today!
After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
-Acts 4:31
In the book of Acts, as with several other places in scripture, an earthquake or a place being described as shaking are symbols of God’s presence among them. Look at the order of what happened in this verse. First they prayed. Then the place was shaken (God’s presence was among them). Then they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they spoke God’s word boldly, sharing the Good News of the Gospel. We have been praying and continue to pray. May hearts and minds (if not the building itself) be shaken, and may tongues be loosed to speak God’s word boldly! For today in your prayer time ask God what areas of your life may need some shaking, what parts of your life may need his REjuvenating presence. REcognize these, and REcommit them to Christ.
