Day 193: Psalms 135-142

Today, LORD, we pray with the psalmist: "Set a guard over our mouths and keep watch over the doors of our lips" (Psalm 141:3). It is way too easy for these mouths of ours to speak Your praises in our quiet times and leave to encounter those for whom our words are not close to praise. Help us build a culture of honor by speaking the truth in love. May we never speak what is hearsay, and if we know it to be truth but it does not build up another, help us keep our mouths shut. On the other hand, may we encourage someone who is discouraged. May we offer wise counsel to someone who invites it...counsel we have learned by practicing what we preach. And, above all, may our words point people to Jesus Christ, for His Name is power, healing, light and life. Thank You for hearing and speaking Your answer into our lives, for we ask all of this in the Name of Jesus. Amen!

Good grief! This is so meant for me. Words can hurt and stay in your mind for a long time. How many times have I been guilty of this? Only Jesus can help me. Got to keep on praying.
