Day 258: Ezekiel 38-39; Psalm 87

Father, today in my devotional reading, I was asked a question: Why? Here is the statement that led to the question: God in His triune nature [the Holy Trinity is in perfect community and communion] has never been lonely, yet He created us for relationship with Him. Why? Clearly, even in our reading through Ezekiel and the Psalms, You desire a relationship with the beings You created in Your image and You pursue those relationships. Clearly, Father, You have invested all You are in that pursuit, and I am amazed, confounded and left speechless. Your love, mercy and grace are beyond my ability to figure out the 'why', and, yet, I have walked in Your presence, I am in Your presence now, and I never want to be out of that relationship. As You walk with me and talk with me, help me always be fully present, for because of Your love, the grace of Jesus, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, the relationship is real. Thank You beyond words! Amen!

I like this. But, I cannot get past thinking why would the Eternal Being want a relationship with a finite fallible human like me. What, what do I have to offer? He knows my next thought and action. Maybe it will take another 66 years to get my act together and accept that…

You are not alone in asking, "Why?" My prayer is that I will live accepting the reality even when I don't grasp the why. Thanks for your candor.
