Day 26: Exodus 13-15; Matthew 19:1-15

God's direction is on purpose. When God did not direct Israel to take the most direct route to save them from war and defeat, they did not understand that His plan was for their good and protection (Exodus 13:17-18). You and I know this because it's history...they did not. We may not, however, understand God's present direction, but history (and experience) tells us we can trust God's Word. Besides, God was with them (Exodus 13:21-22). He is with us! Follow His direction.

God's delays are on purpose. Why would He stop the pilgrims in the immanent threat of destruction at the hand Pharaoh's armies (Exodus 14:1-4)? This was the 'living god of men' versus 'The Living God.' The battle was much greater than the eye could see. So was the predicament. The delay seemed certain death and deliverance impossible. You and I know the truth because it's history...God did fight for them (Exodus 14:14). His timing was perfect! We may wonder about our present circumstances. God will show up, fight for us and show His glory. Trust Him!

God's deliverance is complete. Not only were the Israelites safe on the other shore, but the entire army was destroyed (Exodus 14:29-31). Most likely, the very army that was annihilated was Pharaoh's source of enforcement and cruelty against the slaves in their labor. God's defeat was down to the details...attacking God's children is akin to attacking Him. He does not take lightly the abuse of His own. Those who trusted Him and followed Him in obedience saw with wonder and awe God's glorious deliverance...again, it's history. Whatever our struggle, the call remains the same: walk with Him in His way. He has already made complete provision for our greatest need and our every need in the cross of Christ. Full deliverance...we can depend on Him!
