Day 150: 1 Chronicles 27-29; John 11:45-57

God rules and overrules His purpose to complete. From the Sanhedrin (Israel's political-religious ruling council) suggesting that they could control Jesus...'if we let him go on like this' (John 11:48)...to the High Priest believing he could manage the execution of one in place of the many (John 11:50), their arrogance becomes prophetic. For, behind the scenes and in front of their eyes, God was unfolding His salvation plan. Whatever they did, He would accomplish His purpose. He is Sovereign. So it was that Jesus laid down His own life (John 10:18) and He died for all so that all might live (2 Corinthians 5:15).

Human nature does not change apart from grace. Today there are those who still believe they can outsmart and overcome God, in fact, they do not even acknowledge His existence, often, or, they create a god in their own image. Their actions betray their fear of Him. From persecuting the Church to attempting to legislate Him out of human culture, they demonstrate an underlying sense of His power and presence. He is Sovereign! He shall prevail! So, hold on in the challenge, for in Him (and by His Spirit) we shall overcome (Romans 8:31-39). In the end, we shall rule with Him (Ephesians 2:6-7)! In the meantime, let the peace of God rule in your heart (Colossians 3:15).
