Day 156: 2 Chronicles 16-18; John 15:1-17

I have told you these things so that My joy and delight may be in you, and that your joy may be made full and complete and overflowing. John 15:11, AMP.

This morning my waking song was "Abide" (Aaron Williams and Aaron Keyes) and then we read those famous words of Jesus. The secret of abiding is absolute surrender and utter dependence. The truth of the matter is, apart from Jesus there is nothing we can do that has lasting, eternal value (John 15:5). These words took me to some familiar verses from a Psalm that keep entering into my meditation: "Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." (Psalm 73:25-26, NIV). Then, this morning, the words of John 15:11 latched onto me and won't let go. I can bring Jesus joy. How amazing is that? My abiding in Him brings Him joy. Not only that, the heart of Jesus is to fill me up and flood me with joy. Joy in Him. Joy beyond my circumstances. Abiding joy. Oh, yes, I am full! Thank You, Jesus, for the joy of the LORD is my strength!
