Day 178: Job 10-12; Acts 8:4-25

Every power, or display thereof, pales in comparison to the power of God at work in our world, and especially at work in the human heart. Simon, the Magician (Acts 8:9-24) had gained great wealth and influence through his 'sorcery' but it was no match for the working of the Holy Spirit through a 'mere' layman named Philip. I say 'mere' because in the world's eyes he was of no importance. He co-administered a compassionate care with six others (Acts 6:5). His title was 'servant.' Yet, here this ordinary man was doing extraordinary things. What Simon had was worth nothing next to what he saw in Philip. That same power is at work in us, and the greatest miracle in which you and I participate is in watching God change hearts through our ministry and service to Him. Do you wonder about that? Recently, Mark Tripura visited our church. From the jungles of his homeland to the humble base of a Christian ministry, he shared his journey. He tried every major religion in the midst of people of influence and power, but only found the power to live with hope and meaning when he encountered Christ as Savior. Welcomed by Believers who loved him and journeyed with him, his life changed and the change has powerfully changed his world. Never underestimate the Power at work in you, and your influence through the Holy Spirit. Simon the Magician is no match for you!

Loved Mark Tripura's message. Everybody needed to hear about his ultimately fruitless search of meaning in other religions. Quite meaningful.
