Day 193: Psalm 4-6; Acts 16:16-40
"Know that the LORD has set apart
the faithful for himself;
the Lord will hear when I call to him." (Psalm 4:3, CSB).
They were on their way to prayer when Paul and Silas encountered trouble (Acts 16:16). They confronted that demon 'in the name of Jesus Christ' (16:18). There is power in the Name! Of course, they were imprisoned...you know the story. There they prayed and praised Jesus, the Powerful and Worthy One. They were set free from their bonds and the Jailer and his family were set free from their sins, in the Name of Jesus.
Dwell on these words from Charles Spurgeon: "O, waver not, and let not faith stagger! When you plead the name of Christ, you plead that which shakes the gates of hell and that which the hosts of heaven obey, and God himself feels the sacred power of that divine plea." (The Power in Prayer)
