Day 248: Proverbs 5-6; 1 Corinthians 13

"My son, keep your father’s command, and don’t reject your mother’s teaching." (Proverbs 6:20, CSB).

Today my E.M. Bounds devotions dovetailed with our Scripture readings. He relates obedience to God with obedience to parents and ponders: "Think about this thought for a moment. Do earthly parents require their children to perform duties they cannot do? What father would be so unjust and mean? Are our earthly parents kinder, better, more just than our perfect God?" Now factor in our New Testament reading: 1 Corinthians 13. We really are limited in our perspective of God, our Father's, perfect and omniscient knowledge. What we know, we know finitely. Though we see in a mirror dimly, we know that one day we will fully comprehend as we see all with heavenly clarity. In the mean time, with faith, we keep on believing; with hope, we keep persevering; in love, we remain victorious. For we know that the greatest of these is love, and God's kind of love always wins! And, God is our Abba Father Who has loved us with an everlasting love!
