Day 250: Proverbs 9-10; 1 Corinthians 15:1-34
Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.” (1 Corinthians 15:33, NIV)
Perhaps Paul was reading Proverbs as well...certainly sounds that way. As it turns out, he is quoting a Greek playwrite by the name of Menander (footnotes of AMP, EXB, NIV). Who knew that wisdom could come from a secular source and make it into the inspired Word of God? Here is a simple reminder that true wisdom is derived from the truth, and the truth is the truth wherever it is found. Choose your friends and your steady diet of influence wisely, for as Paul reminds us, and as we read in the Proverbs, their influence can be a matter of life or death...forever. Here is the safeguard: surrender to the Truth. Be all-in and all-out for (consecrated to - thanks, E.M. Bounds) Jesus. He'll help you live now (abundantly) and in every tomorrow (forever).
The reward of the righteous is life; the wages of the wicked is punishment. (Proverbs 10:16, CSB)

It is true as to ... "bad company corrupts good character...". But, Jesus said- "it is not the healthy who need a doctor...". While I am not " the Great Physician," we can't give up on our' company ' that has need of Jesus. Even through my imperfections, someone might see a glimpse of my love of Christ. Not gonna give up.
I had been thinking about this for a couple of days. Just had to comment.
True...stay close to Jesus and you will be a witness for Him. The world that is lost needs to see the Lord in us. The challenge is not embracing the way of those whose company we keep. For me, the balance is in having accountable relationships with my Christian family. I am glad that Christ demonstrated the boundaries for us!
