Day 257: Proverbs 23-24; 2 Corinthians 5

...mortality swallowed up by life.

What powerful poetry! Ponder that thought. 17th Century poet, John Donne wrote the sonnet: "Death Be Not Proud" that begins and ends thus:

Death, be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so;
For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow
Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me....
One short sleep past, we wake eternally
And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die.

Life wins, in the end! Eternal life. Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift of Life everlasting in Christ Jesus, sealed by the Holy Spirit!

I love this, that you included a poem. It is a good one. I am still scared to die. The unknown.

That unknown journey is never unaccompanied...though there are no human companions, our Lord is there, always. Fear of that unknown is not uncommon and should not incur guilt. This, I believe, His grace will see you through to glory, and His grace is enough! Check out Hebrews 13:5 and Isaiah 41:13.
