40 Days of Prayer and Fasting - Day 6

Day 6 – Saturday September 16th
Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So, the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand in his side, I will not believe.”
-John 20:24-25

We would all love our walk with Jesus that follows a straight line, but that is rarely how things play out. Along our faith journey we have times of strength, and times of weakness; times of celebration, and times of lamenting; times of deep faith, and, yes, times of doubt. Honesty is the best way to deal with doubt. Share it with a brother or sister in Christ or with a pastor, and with Jesus. Thomas was unfairly labeled a doubter as though he was the only one that struggled. He was honest about his doubts and Jesus spoke graciously into them, leading him to a life of ministry and missions. As we journey towards our time of REturning and REcommitting, pray about what doubts you may have, and also pray about what doubts may be keeping others from accepting Christ.
