40 Days of Prayer and Fasting - Day 11

Day 11 – Friday September 22nd
Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.
-1 Peter 2:11-12

Whether we are aware of it or not, our lives as Christians are constantly under examination. A world that is hungry for God watches we who claim to know, love, and follow Jesus. In Peter’s description we are like foreigners and exiles in comparison to the rest of the world, completely alien to the way the rest of the world works. They desperately want to know if the Jesus we tell of is real, and whether the faith that we profess will hold true in our words and actions. Take some time during your prayer time today for REflection and discernment. What, in your life, might be telling the wrong story about Jesus? Pray that the Holy Spirit enable us to resist temptations, and to live lives that bear witness to the grace of Christ. As we grow closer to the time of revival, may we be REshaped and REformed more and more into the image of Jesus.
