40 Days of Prayer and Fasting - Day 16
Day 16 – Thursday September 28th
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
-2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Today’s verse speaks about comfort. It seems to echo God’s call to “comfort my people” through the prophet Isaiah (40:1). In this passage Paul is reminding the church in Corinth that the Comforter (the Holy Spirit) has come. Not that the Spirit will provide them (nor us) lives of comfort with designer clothes, expensive furniture, and freedom from difficulty. Rather, the comfort that God offers is freedom from fear, freedom from worry, and freedom from sin. We are comforted in the troubles we face, and therefore we are freed to share that comfort with others. Pray that people who gather at the REvival will be able to REceive comfort from Jesus, and be enable to pass it on.
