Day 285: Isaiah 45-47; Colossians 4

"Devote yourselves to prayer; stay alert in it with thanksgiving." (Colossians 4:2, CSB)

"May I pray with you?" I asked a person who had discovered their loved-one unresponsive. "Please!" was the instantaneous response. In recent days I have found myself privileged to be in a place of helplessness. Answers I do not have. The One Who is the Answer, and therefore, has the answers, I know personally. The longer I live in ministry, the more I understand Paul's admonition to devote myself to prayer, and to pray without ceasing ( 1 Thessalonians 5:17). There is a wonderful sense that God delights in my, in our, dependence on Him. After the prayer, I saw the demeanor change. God showed up. His presence is shalom. These days I have watched Him respond to a chorus of prayers and I am in awe. Thanksgiving is the immediate response to His faithfulness. He is good...all the time. Give thanks with me, this is good and it is right! He is worthy of our thanks and praise!

His peace is the only One that really works-and lasts. I just do not take advantage of-honestly- much of the time.
