Day 289: Isaiah 56-58; 1 Thessalonians 3

Today our congregational conversation moves from 'purpose' - how uniquely, intentionally we were created with a reason for being - to 'mission'. God has created and called us to be  participants with Him in carrying out His Great Salvation Plan. Isaiah 56:7 is a prophetic word that Jesus, Himself, embraced. God's House will indeed become a 'House of prayer for all nations.'  There we will live in perfect and unbroken relationship and communion with God and one another. This morning, in my E.M. Bounds devotional, I was reminded that it takes focused prayer for this prophetic word to become reality: "Christ's people on their knees, with Christ's compassion in their hearts for dying and needy souls, is the pledge of laborers in numbers and character to meet the needs of earth and the purposes of heaven." Come, let us pray to the Lord of the harvest.
