Day 293: Jeremiah 1-2; 2 Thessalonians 1

"Yet my people have exchanged their glorious God for worthless idols" (Jeremiah 2:11b, NLT)

My heart cried out as I read these words from Jeremiah: "O God, how true are these ancient words! Save us from ourselves! Save us from our sin! Save us for Your glory! God, save us!" That our changing world has not had a heart-change is evident, at home and abroad. If ever we needed transformational revival, it is now. The prophetic word states: "Your own wickedness will punish you" (Jeremiah 2:19a). We see that, too! And yet, the prophet came to draw the hearts of people back to the heart of God. To speak His plan of redemption and restoration. In this I have hope! God listens to His praying people! So, I pray humbly, "Show us Your glory!" and agree with the verse of the day: "'Though the mountains move and the hills shake, my love will not be removed from you and my covenant of peace will not be shaken,' says your compassionate LORD." (Isaiah 54:10, CSB).

These are comforting words. "...my love will not be removed from you..." But, I still have my worthless idols...

Surrender is a life-long journey. I am so grateful for God's grace and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit!
