Day 304: Jeremiah 27-28; 2 Timothy 4

"Preach the Word" (2 Timothy 4:2). When Hananiah confronted Jeremiah rather dramatically (Jeremiah 28), declaring Jeremiah's prophecy false, he thought he was opposing a human being. What he learned was terminal...to challenge the messenger in his delivery was to challenge the Message Giver. The One Who has the last word is the One Who is the Word and has spoken the Word. The world is full of Hananiahs. These people think that their thoughts and ruminations can create a new reality that trumps the authoritative, Holy Spirit inspired, Word of God. They are dead wrong! There will come a day when they will weep and gnash their teeth. In the mean time, every opportunity given, in season and out, the Word must be preached. Despite the appearance of freedom in deceiving people with what their itching ears want to hear, it is only in knowing and living in the truth that we are set free (John 8:32). After all, Jesus prayed that we would be 'sanctified by the truth' and what is the truth? Jesus: "Your word is truth!" (John 17:17).

Just looking at the creation of the world and all that is in it, is evidence of a Being greater than our puny selves.
