Day 310: Jeremiah 41-43; Hebrews 2

How strange human nature can be. The leaders of the rebellion against the rebellion (Jeremiah 42) come to Jeremiah to ask for God's direction. They are representative of all people who pray with one answer in mind...it's their way or the highway. When God tells them to do what they do not want to do, they reject the answer. More than that, they call the mediator, Jeremiah, a liar...in essence, they call God a liar. That is blasphemy! There is no way to take on God and win. The sad reality is that their sin affected many people. Disobedience, and in this case open defiance, are deadly. It's better not to ask than prescribe an answer to God.

So, when you ask, let God answer. When He answers, do what He says. He sees the big picture. He knows what you need. He understands the essence of the request and has your best interest at heart. If you don't believe it, read Hebrews 2 again, especially vv.14-18. His motivation toward you is love. Let your motivation toward Him be surrendered trust: Your will be done!
