Day 318: Ezekiel 4-6; Hebrews 9

"And just as it is appointed for people to die once—and after this, judgment—so also Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him." (Hebrews 9:27-28, CSB).

Perhaps it is reading Ezekiel and relating God's fitting judgment to today that deeply saddens my heart. I'll never forget someone asking me: "What about people who should know better, who just don't get it?" It seems epidemic at times. Can't they see that all their frenzy is just stirring up the whirlwind? All they are leaving in the wake of their hyper-activity is devastation. Judgment must come. When I read the above words, I hear the somber truth. Death will come. Judgment cannot be escaped. However, when Christ appears a second time, not to die for our sins, but as King and Judge, all those who are waiting (and watching) will know His final and ultimate salvation. How I long for His appearing! Yet, I have another longing. I want my world to know my Savior so my world can join the watching and waiting, the looking and longing. Even so, come Lord Jesus...now and then!

This made me cry. " ... who should know better..." Got to keep on praying and have faith in God's timing.
