Day 328: Ezekiel 29-31; James 5

Today is Thanksgiving Day in the USA. There are countless people and events and things for which I am grateful, but for this moment, I am remembering the example of 'the prophets' (James 5:10-11). Prophets...all those who have spoken truth as God has revealed it to them and through them. There is a price to be paid and the patience of faith to be borne out. Speaking truth is not always popular. In recent days, we have seen our contemporary prophets face some opposition reminiscent of prophets from days gone by. James, and Jesus, reminds us that the patience of Job pays off. Suffering may last for a night, but joy comes in the morning. Ah yes, joy! That which cannot be affected by circumstances for it is based in the soul that is surrendered to the Victor in Whom we are victorious. So, I am grateful for the prophets and those closer to home who have spoken truth into my life (even when I did not want or appreciate it). These have mentored me in a deepening walk with Jesus and have encouraged in me a faith that does not shrink! Because of you, my life is greatly enriched and I am deeply grateful! Thanks, prophets and thank you, Jesus, for sending them my way!

One of the things I am thankful about is MCN and how God meets me there week after week. I am thankful to you, Pastor, also, for inviting me (as I waited on you at my job at Wawa) all those years ago.
