Day 333: Ezekiel 39-40; 1 Peter 5

"And then, after your brief suffering, the God of all loving grace, who has called you to share in his eternal glory in Christ, will personally and powerfully restore you and make you stronger than ever. Yes, he will set you firmly in place and build you up." (1 Peter 5:10, TPT).

Jesus did tell us that in this world we would have opposition (literally, pressing like the pressing of grapes to make wine). His word to the disciples was that they would know His shalom, for He had already overcome the world (humanity in organized and deliberate opposition to God - John 16:33). Peter is reminding us of this truth. There will be suffering and hardship. Though these may seem unbearable, they will only be for a season. It is God Himself, the Almighty and Victorious, Who will tend to us personally. He will complete us in restoration, rebuilding and establishing us. It is when we humble ourselves (1 Peter 5:6), acknowledging this truth that we must have Him, for apart from Him there is nothing we can do (John 15:5) and without Him we are lost and hopeless, that He can raise us up to share in His glory. Blessed are the meek, these are the ones who inherit the earth (Matthew 5:5).
