Day 348: Joel 1-3; Revelation 4

“Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.” These are the words of the heavenly messenger guiding John through the revelation of Jesus Christ (Revelation 4:1b). John, anticipating what must take place (think events in the future) is caught up into the epicenter of God's existence and his focus turns from events to the indescribable scene of heaven's throneroom and God Himself. This is, after all, 'The Revelation of Jesus Christ...' (Revelation 1:1). Just as John cannot see the future without seeing the Center of Being, so you and I cannot/should not read the Word without recognizing the Epicenter of all of Scripture, Jesus Christ. As I heard recently and have said before, everything in the Old Testament points to Jesus Christ and everything in the New Testament flows from His Presence. One day, we who are His, shall see what John saw and join the multitudes of heaven in abandoned worship as we fall on our faces before our Great God and Savior. In the meantime, whether it's in a grand temple or on the dusty floor of a cattle stall; on a star-lit hill, or in a humble dwelling, let us fall on our knees and let all that is within us praise His Holy Name! He is worthy!
