Day 5: Genesis 16-18; Psalm 5

"In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly" (Psalm 5:3, NIV)

My Father, Our Father in heaven,
Today You have reminded me that You are the God Who sees me (Genesis 16:14) and Your sight is piercing and comforting at the same time. You see through the exterior, the veneer, to the core of my being. That would frighten me because of how far I am from being like Jesus except for the fact that I know You love me supremely. Indeed, when I stepped out of bed this morning the words from a song were in my heart: "Your goodness is running after me." With such love, I can easily surrender to Your perfect vision that disciplines me and invites me into Your refining presence.

Your Word also encouraged me with the intimate audacity of prayer (Genesis 18:22-33). There stands (the posture of intercession) Abraham in communion with You, Abba Father, and boldly challenges Your plan of action as He pleads mercy. Jesus prayed with audacity that Your will would be done on earth as it is in heaven...here and now. I want to be so boldly believing. By Your mercy and grace enter this broken world and revive, restore, recreate...Your Kingdom, Your will. I am filled with great expectation, for I ask this all in the Name of Jesus. Amen!
