Day 8: Genesis 25-26; Psalm 8

Abba, Father,
You alone are worthy of our worship, praise and adoration! Everything about You speaks of Your otherness, Your holiness, Your glory and majesty. Knowing who we are in light of Who You Are, magnifies these realities and we are humbled by Your love, mercy and grace. Yet, Your Word says that we are a little lower than You (Psalm 8:5, NASB). We live in this balance between humility and privilege. Please, let us never forget our place in You. All is by Your grace, and Your grace alone. Yet, in Christ we have an inheritance, a co-inheritance (Romans 8:17). Help us never to be like Esau and treat our birthright with such casual disdain that we sell it for a careless and momentary desire or pleasure (Genesis 25:33). Let us live our privilege with the sole purpose of being like Jesus, and bringing You glory. All this we ask by Your grace, through Your Holy Spirit, in the Name of Jesus. Amen!

I am still greatly moved by the faith of Abraham. He worships Him with sacrifice and obedience, but, as above, he speaks to God as a son of 'privilege.' I need to be more like this.

When I think of heavenly beings I see splendor, magnificent and beauty, so for humans to have been created a little lower than the angels, makes me so undeserving of that comparison, but also makes me realize how much love God has for us to place us in that category.
