Day 58: Numbers 33-35; Psalm 58

“Surely the righteous still are rewarded; surely there is a God who judges the earth.” (Psalm 58:11, NIV)

Dear God, our God,
While we draw great consolation, even hope, in the promise of reward, we also realize that this is all by grace. Grace helps us understand that Your delays are not failure to act in judgment, but the desire of a loving and forgiving God Who is not willing that any should perish eternally in their sins. Thank You for the grace extended to us! Help us never to presume upon that grace, but to invest our energy in mission to see that grace extended to all. Now, the time seems short. Wickedness is multiplied and the days of evil are so much greater than they were in Thomas Jefferson's world. Your judgment seems inevitable. Before that great and awful day, please Lord, bring about a global revival as You pour out Your Spirit anew and afresh...for there are those we love who stand ready to be judged, and we want them to know You. Break our hearts with the things that break Yours, and stir in us the urgent cry for the lost to be found in You. This we ask for Jesus' sake. Amen!

"Indeed I tremble for my country when reflect that God is just: that his justice cannot sleep for ever..." (Thomas Jefferson)
