Day 65: Deuteronomy 15-17; Psalm 65

Our God and Father,
You call your children to live 'openhandedly' (Deuteronomy 15:8). What a beautiful image. We are not to be a grasping, hoarding, miserly people. Rather we are to be a giving, sharing, generous people. All that we have, we have received from Your hand...blessing upon blessing. With this truth, our joy is to share the blessings we have received. Truly, there is joy in giving! And, when we who have freely received give freely, we are being like You. For, Father God, it is in Your nature to give, and to give all. For You loved the world and You gave Your very best, Your everything, Your Son so that we might have the gift that is priceless, that cannot be bought, the gift of life eternal and abundant. Thank You so much for Jesus and for all Your bountiful and gracious gifts! By Your Holy Spirit, help us to live openhandedly, toward You and toward our world. In Jesus' Name we ask. Amen.
