Blessing Our Community - Day 6
DAY 6 - Friday, April 5, 2024
John 13:14–15
Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.
Scripture Insights
We have good news to share! Your church can be a church that blesses its community! We know that what lies behind us and before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us. We have the Holy Spirit (see John 14–16)! Any limitations we feel in our lives are only guidelines, not stop signs. We know what Jesus, our greatest hero, is calling us to do. In today’s scripture he tells us that he has already set the example for us. Churches who bless their communi- ties are unselfish—serving because of their love for people.
When Jesus looked around the room that Passover Thursday night long ago, he saw a group with proud hearts and dirty feet. So he showed us by example how he wanted us to live—blessing others, serving others. He says to us, “You should do for others as I have done for you.” His pattern to provide blessing and serving communities of people is the example he wants us to create in every church all over the world.
A church doesn’t have to be big to be a blessing! Together, let’s live fully, learn continually, love generously, and leave a legacy of blessing our community through the way we minister.
Today’s Prayer
Lord, we want to live fully, learn continually, and love generously today. Help us be a blessing to the people you put in our lives. May we think with your mind, see with your eyes, and feel with your heart today.
What is the Spirit saying to you today?
