Blessing Our Community - Day 40

DAY 40 - Thursday, May 9, 2024

Proverbs 3:5–6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Scripture Insights
I have walked for exercise most of my life, usually for miles in the community where I live. However, when my husband and I moved into our newest church’s parsonage, I decided to take advantage of the extra-large yard and walk in a circle around the edge of the yard, as if it were a track. Little did I know the Lord was guiding my path to blessing my community.
As I walked along the edge of the yard, I met my neighbors and began chat- ting with them. Sometimes, my thirty-minute walk turned into a one-hour walk because of all the neighborly conversations. Over time, trust was built, and my husband and I decided to host a neighborhood cookout. The neighbors responded- ed positively, and all invitees came; some even brought other neighbors. As a crowd of twenty-one people sat on our back porch while my husband flipped burgers in the pouring rain, we made a memory and solidified relationships for the Lord’s glory that the next pastor was able to continue to cultivate.
If you are willing to bless your community, trust that the Lord, in his vast knowledge, will make your paths straight—or maybe circular, as the need arises.

Today’s Prayer
Lord, open our eyes to opportunities to bless our communities that are right at our fingertips. Give us the courage to do what you show us for your glory.

What is the Spirit saying to you today?
