Days 204-205: Psalms 36-41; Acts 22:30-23:35

This weekend, I am truly weekending...lots of driving long hours. Grateful for the Word, grace...and protection!

"I have been young and now I am old,
yet I have not seen the righteous abandoned..." (Psalm 37:25a, CSB).

Some may challenge this truth. The Psalmist has reminded us through the chapters we have read that life has been full of the consequences of his own sins and the sins of others against him. We are on this journey of Paul's multiple incarcerations with him...starting with false accusations that almost got him killed. It sounds as though the Psalmists and Paul can identify. Yet, Paul would say, "Amen!" to the truth of Psalm 37:25. In our troubles, we are never abandoned by God. To the Philippians Paul would write from one of his many imprisonments: "I know how to make do with little, and I know how to make do with a lot. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being content—whether well fed or hungry, whether in abundance or in need. I am able to do all things through him who strengthens me" (4:12-13, CSB). And, a little later he makes this promise that I would warrant many who read this have claimed: "And my God will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory [glorious riches] in Christ Jesus" (4:19, CSB [added: optional translation]). It's true! Never alone! Never abandoned! Thank God He is always present with us!
