40 Days of Prayer and Fasting - Sunday Feast 10/8
Sunday Feast! No Fast Today!
How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!
It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard,
running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe.
It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion.
For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.
-Psalm 133:1-3
In most team sports the difference between a good or bad season can come down to one thing: unity. While skills are important, a sense of unity among teammates is also essential. Even if a team has acquired all of the best players, it can be difficult or impossible for the individual players’ skills to add up to a winning season if the players don’t form a bond with one another. Unity is also important within a church family. Why, then, does unity often seem difficult to achieve? If unity is lacking in any situation, including within a church family, part of problem is usually that some members of the team want to be more important than others. We must adopt the mindset of John the Baptist who said, “He [Jesus] must become greater, I must become less” (John 3:30). We do better as a whole when we RElease our need to be in charge. Pray and ask Jesus to show you ways in which you need to let go and trust him to be in charge.
