2026 Reading Plan Reflections - Day 53

Faith in the Storms

“Jesus asked them, 'Why are you frightened? Don't you have faith yet?'” Mark 4:40 CEB
The disciples had already seen authority over demons, disease, and religious systems. And yet, in the storm, fear took over.

I understand that. Even in the light of good test results, anxiety still creeps in. Disappointment is still possible. Our humanity doesn’t disappear just because we’ve seen evidence of God’s faithfulness before.

The disciples wake Jesus with a question that feels familiar: “Don’t you care that we’re drowning?” And Jesus responds — not with panic, but with power. The storm obeys. The sea goes still.

The question lingers: Why are you frightened?

We get scared because storms are real. We face them. But Jesus asks to remind us that He is always present in them. He will not leave us nor forsake us.

Jesus knows. Jesus cares. And Jesus provides — even when fear clouds our vision.

Faith isn't denial of the storm. It's trust in the One who stands above it.

Faith In Action

When anxiety rises, name the storm — and then name who Jesus is.
Out loud, if you need to: “This is real. But so is He.”
Then choose to rest there.
Lord, You see the storm, and You see me. Steady my heart when fear rises. Teach me to trust You in the waves.
