2026 Reading Plan Reflections - Day 59

From the Inside Out

“It’s from the inside, from the human heart, that evil thoughts come: sexual sins, thefts, murders, adultery, greed, evil actions, deceit, unrestrained immorality, envy, insults, arrogance, and foolishness. All these evil things come from the inside and contaminate a person in God’s sight.” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭7‬:‭21‬-‭23‬ ‭CEB‬‬
Jesus doesn’t blame the environment. He doesn’t blame culture. He points to the heart.

“It’s from the inside… that evil thoughts come…” (Mark 7:21–23)

That’s uncomfortable. We would rather manage externals than confront internals. It’s easier to adjust habits than surrender motives. But Jesus makes it clear: transformation is not cosmetic. It is covenantal. It begins within.

And here is the hope woven through this hard truth — God moves first.

Before we clean up. Before we figure it out. Before we prove anything.

Grace pursues us not because of who we are, but because of who we can become in Christ. That’s prevenient grace at work — God stirring, convicting, inviting. He exposes what contaminates us, not to shame us, but to free us.

The heart that once produced darkness can become a vessel of light. The life once marked by brokenness can become a testimony of restoration. And that kind of transformation is visible. Profound. Contagious in the best sense. But grace requires response.

God calls. We answer. God transforms. The question isn’t whether grace is offered. It is. The question is how we will respond to the directional cues of the Spirit today.

Faith In Action

Ask the Spirit to search your heart. Name one inner attitude or pattern that needs surrender — not just behavior modification, but genuine transformation. Offer it to God and take one concrete step toward change.
Father, search my heart and make it new.
By Your grace, transform me from the inside out.
