2026 Reading Plan Reflections - Day 61
From Blurry to Clear
The man looked up and said, “I see people. They look like trees, only they are walking around.” Mark 8:24
Jesus and his disciples went into the villages near Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that I am?” They told him, “Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, and still others one of the prophets.” He asked them, “And what about you? Who do you say that I am?” Mark 8:27-29

In Bethsaida, Jesus heals a blind man in stages. First touch — partial sight. “I see people, but they look like trees walking.” Second touch — clarity.
This is the only two-stage healing in the Gospels. And it’s not random. It sits right in the middle of a chapter where everyone seems to have vision problems. The Pharisees can’t see the signs already given. The disciples can’t see beyond bread. Peter can see that Jesus is the Messiah — but not that the Messiah must suffer. Partial vision.
This miracle isn’t just about eyesight. It’s about insight. It’s a living parable of discipleship. Following Jesus often moves us from blur… to focus… to clarity. Not all at once. Step by step.
In our own journey, we’ve seen this unfold. Vision deepens over time. Perspective shifts. What once looked confusing begins to make sense. What once felt like a setback becomes part of the story God was shaping all along.
And then Jesus raises the stakes. “Who do you say that I am?” “Take up your cross.” “Lose your life to save it.” Clear vision doesn’t just inform us — it transforms us.
Grace ignites us. The cross shapes us. Love sends us. But clarity requires surrender. We don’t get sharper sight by arguing with Jesus like Peter did. We get it by staying close enough for the second touch.
The question is not whether Jesus is working. The question is whether we are willing to let Him finish the work.

Faith In Action
Ask God to reveal one area of “partial vision” in your life — where you see Jesus correctly but incompletely. Then take one obedient step that aligns with His full call, not just your preferred version of it.
Lord, touch my eyes again.
Move me from blur to clarity, and give me courage to follow wherever You lead.
